Holiday Gift-Giving Stamp Camp

A big event is planned for November 17 at 10:00 a.m. with holiday gift-giving in mind. :) Five projects will be completed. This is an effort involving several demonstrators that we think attendees will be happy with. Three of the projects are in the picture above. (Coasters are a set of four.)

Interested? A registration form needs to be filled out along with prepayment before Monday November 5. This will insure your materials. If you would like a registration form and you are not on my e-mailing list, let me know and I'll send it to you. I would put a link here to click on but am challenged as to how to do that. Hey! I've learned how to post pictures! lol Give me some more time. Directions are on the registration form and the event is being held in Ilion. Snacks and beverages will be provided. We ask that you provide your own favorite adhesive and scissors.

I did a workshop yesterday for a new hostess, Linda. We had a really nice time and I think guests liked what we did.

Now to get to my typing! I'd really rather be stampin'.

Scout & Pace

I cannot believe how much they have grown already. Scout will be two on January 29 and Pace will be one on February 3. She is quite the chatty one now. I went to visit them this evening and Erin and I were getting a real kick out of how Scoutie was reading one of Daddy's hunting magazines. She couldn't hold the magazine with both hands and turn the pages SO she straightened one leg out to prop one side of the magazine open and continued going through the magazine like this. lol

Pace is the little man. He is quite serious most of the time but certainly can give Nonny lots of smiles and belly laughs.

Embossing

Before knowing what embossing was, the word actually intimidated me. Here is a tutorial for a card that I made similar to one we gave for a wedding this past weekend. In this tutorial, I'm using Bravo Burgundy cardstock as my base. Using the Coluzzle Cutting System, I placed the oval template down on my Bravo Burgundy but underneath the cardstock, I used the cutting mat that comes with the system. You use this neat little swivel blade that fits into the channels of the template.

On the oval piece of Brava Burgundy cardstock, I stamped an image from Garden Silhouettes which is a Level 2 Hostess Set. For my ink, I used Whisper White Craft Ink which contains a pigment that will make the embossing powder stick to it.

I used white embossing powder but you can use clear embossing powder, both giving basically the same look. Tap off all of the excess embossing powder so that it is just covering the stamped image.

You need to use a heat tool which is MUCH hotter than blow dryer. This step basically melts the embossing powder to the ink and therefore, giving it a raised, shiny appearance.

I distressed the edges of my oval with the Cutter Tool which is a really neat tool that contains the distress tool that is shown here, a cutter, a scorer and a perforator!

I laid my Brava Burgundy down on the template and then used the next largest channel to layer behind this. I used Whisper White cardstock for this and distressed it the same way.

I glued the layers together and left it alone as far as greetings, etc. It can be used as a notecard or I can even add my own greeting when needed.
Embossing really adds a nice touch and I like the way this card looks. Simple but elegant. Any questions?!

Stampin' Room

Here are a couple of pictures of my Stampin' Room/Office. The picture on the left, is my office. lol I type and type and type for doctor's privately as a medical transcriptionist. This means that I sit at the computer with a headset on and use a foot pedal to play, rewind and fast forward through the tapes. I have to type everything that they say. Do you know how tempting it is to sit there with my back to my countertop for stampin' along with all of my stampin' & scrappin' supplies?!
The picture on the right is what is directly behind me as I type. The countertop is 12-foot long and accommodates lots of stampin' goodies. :)
This Friday, at 6:00 p.m., I have Open Stampin' & Scrappin' scheduled. If you want to bring your latest project, assemble some stamp sets you haven't quite gotten to or just hang out, let me know by Friday morning. If you need help with ideas, this would be a great time!

Names of birds :)

For those of you wondering the types of birds that were posted previously they are; Blue Jay, a Purple Finch or House Finch (cannot remember which one it was), Eastern Nuthatch, female Downy Woodpecker (the male has a red spot on the back of his head), and a Tufted Titmouse. We have a male and female Downy Woodpecker that come to the feeder every day but never at the same time. With a wonderful variety of birds that visit our feeders, we are always trying to get that "perfect" picture of each type. It sure is a lot of fun.

Time to get that 13-year-old up and going for school. Have a great day everyone!!!!

New!!! Slide Show

I'm sooo excited. After Ron added a slideshow to a site that he has, we've played for a few days with adding a slideshow to my blog. Because I'm sooooo not a computer person (I just type for a living lol), I was really challenged as far as adding this new element to my page. First, it wouldn't center on my original blog so I ended up playing with templates and actually putting the slideshow in where the posts are. I really wanted it in the sidebar. Anyway.......... There are a few pics on my slideshow right now. Some of you will recognize cards from the Shoebox Swap and some are from workshops or stamp camps. Some are even done by Kim (luv ya) and by Ron! Also, there is some music that I've added. I'll be adding and changing pictures out. Please check it out anytime! I'm going to be adding some pictures of another great love that I have. Hmmmmm.... What could that be?! For the slideshow, you'll have to scroll down to see it.

Shoebox Swap --- October 6, 2007

What a great time we all had, right ladies and gentleman? lol Here are cards from the Shoebox Swap. It really is neat participating in one of these because you get such a variety of cards and ideas. Maybe next time, YoU will want to participate. You just make a card ahead of time and then provide materials for everyone else who is participating to make the same card.

Keep checking back for new stamp camps that are going to be added. I'll also be posting some Open Stampin' & Scrappin' dates so that you can get started or maybe complete your Christmas cards or project that you just haven't found the time for. These are always fun! You just bring all of your supplies that you need for what you are working on. It's a great time to sit, relax, work at your own pace, and chat!

UPS Guy -- Greg

Hmmm.... Could it be? Yes, the Big Brown Truck is delivering again. :) Thank you Greg! No, I wasn't trying to make a quick getaway. lol I'm always soooo excited when he pulls up because it means more scrappin' and stampin'!

If you are participating in the 3-D card this Friday, your sets are here! Woohoo!!!!

A wonderful hostess had her workshop here last night. What a nice time we all had. She was happy to get the cardstock sampler that I made which is a gift to all of my hostesses now. It has a sample of every piece of cardstock that we carry so you can use it as a valuable tool, choosing your colors for scrapbook pages or cards! Thank you again Andrea for hostessing a workshop with me. :)

Shelli Gardner

Kim took this picture in Philly of Shelli Gardner and me. :) She is the cofounder and CEO of Stampin' Up! She is an awesome person, great presenter of ideas and techniques, and is sooooo good to demonstrators and customers alike.
I cannot wait for the next event for Stampin' Up!
