Fall Driving -- Watch out for deer!

Last evening while taking Rachael to dance in New Hartford, I was driving on Higby Road. There was a small car in front of me and I saw a deer run across in front of her. I had the presence of mind, at that time, to assume there were probably other deer nearby and slowed down. What happened next was a very surreal moment for me that is still quite vivid in my mind and has played over and over many times since.

A second deer darted across in front of the driver in front of me who hit the deer and in the next moment, the deer went up over her car and came toward my windshield. I even cringed at the sight of the deer which landed just above my windshield, striking the roof of my vehicle quite hard and loud.

After all is said and done, we were very lucky including the woman who first hit the deer. She sustained a shattered windshield and the top of my vehicle is scuffed and I have a broken luggage rack.

I've always heard the saying "count your blessings" and I often have done this. I certainly am counting them even more now. Please take caution in driving especially at this time of year. It is hunting season and deer are on the move more. Counting my blessings................

Maine

An evening on Wells Beach.
Sunrise on Wells Beach.

View from Strawberryhill in the evening.

Two beauties taking a camera opportunity at Strawberryhill. lol

Last Wednesday on Wells Beach after arriving there. Ohhhhhhhhhhh, wish I were still there! We've already made our reservations at Strawberryhill for next summer. Ohhh...... That longing feeling is stirring.................... It's only seven months away. :(

Thanksgiving Card

This is a card front that I received while in Philadelphia. I had told a friend (Ellen) that I received a card front and was going to post it before leaving on our trip to Maine. Unfortunately, I cannot give credit to the creator because it was not given. An oval punch was used along with several other Stampin' Up! punches.

We're Baaaack..

A lot of you knew that we were going away to Maine for the Thanksgiving weekend. We stayed in Wells and had a wonderful time. Rachael's friend, Emily, came with us and they did a whole lot of swimming in the indoor pool. This was the FIRST time I had ever been out on Black Friday and I even shopped! lol We went to Kittery where there are lots of outlets. I've never really been much of a shopper and never was a big fan of outlets BUT!!! I did find some bargains and there weren't many people there. The merchants said that most people were at malls in the long, loooooooooong lines. I heard a lot of people saying that they were out at 4:00 or 4:30 shopping. Ummm..... That's a.m.!!!!!!!!!

We took one day and made the two-hour drive further up the coast to Strawberryhill which is our absolute favorite place to be. We visited for some time with Dana, his mom, Violet, and Cheryl. It feels like a second home to us there. We even made our reservations for this summer while we were there! Woohoo! The link is on the left side for Strawberryhill to click on just in case you're interested. There is a cat there, named Pumpkin. An author who has stayed there has written a book on Pumpkin and it is a true story. If you go to the website for Strawberryhill, there is a picture of the book. If you click on the book, you'll see an actual picture of Pumpkin. Guess what! Rachael had taken this picture a few years ago. She was thrilled when she heard Dana was using it for the site.

I have lots and lots of typing to catch up on. I'll post when I can and will have pictures from our trip. Stay warm everyone!!

Stamp Camp Projects

These are four of the projects that were done on Saturday for the Holiday Gift-Giving Stamp Camp. The fifth project was a CD ornament that Kim had planned and guess what! I didn't get one. Waaaaaahhhhhh!!! We did have to change the frame because availability was a problem but I think everyone was okay with that. I think a good time was had by all. I know I had a great time. There were stampin' friends there that I hadn't seen for some time. I hope to see you all again soon!! :)

Little Lion Cub

Doesn't Pace make a cute lion?! He was very cooperative with having his picture taken. Hmmm.... Scoutie? Not so cooperative. Just wanted to hang with Aunt RaeRae. We were visited by the cute lion and cute bear on Halloween. Love those trick-or-treaters. :)

Night before Holiday Gift-Giving Stamp Camp

Well, I figured I better post something. It has been some time and a stampin' friend (Deb) told me Wednesday night at the Tag You're It stamp camp that I must be very busy. She's got that right! She is actually someone who will be attending tomorrow's stamp camp. Once she sees what is planned, she will understand! lol

Just to warn any of you who have not seen me in a couple of days. Well, I've wanted to do something to my hair for about six or seven years. I know it's been that long because I saw a picture of it on the wall of a salon where Rachael was getting her hair done for a wedding she was in. Yup, I finally did it! Don't say I didn't warn you. Tomorrow could be interesting. A couple of you already knew what my plan was. For those who did not, prepare yourself. Nope. I'm not posting a picture! Hey! Hostess a workshop or attend an event and then you're sure to see.

I'm going to post some pictures of tags we made along with pictures of all the projects that will be done tomorrow. I'll also post a great special that Stampin' Up! has for the month of January! If you've been holding off on hostessing a workshop, think about it OR talk to someone who already has hostessed a workshop. Ask them how much they benefited!!!! Stay tuned....
